Real Wedding: Meghen + Taylor’s North Star Gatherings Wedding
As a wedding planner, every day is a little different. Some days are sunny and smooth sailing, and others are filled with unexpected challenges. Meghen and Taylor’s wedding in early May at North Star Gatherings in Colorado was one of those days that tested our flexibility, but in the end, it became a true testament to the couple’s love and the power of a little patience. The weather was unpredictable, with rain and wind threatening the entire day, but Meghen and Taylor’s celebration turned out to be nothing short of magical.
The day began early with clouds overhead, and as I arrived at North Star Gatherings, I could already feel the cool breeze and see the dark clouds gathering in the sky. The team and I quickly went to work setting up, knowing that the ceremony was scheduled for the beautiful outdoor space at the venue, with the Colorado mountains serving as the backdrop. The forecast wasn’t promising, but we remained hopeful, and Meghen and Taylor were determined to have their ceremony outdoors, rain or shine.
As I checked in with the vendors—florists, photographers, and the catering team—everyone remained positive, and we adjusted as needed to prepare for different scenarios. Meghen and her bridal party were busy getting ready, and the energy in the room was one of excitement, despite the ominous weather.
By the time Meghen was ready for her first look with Taylor, the rain had begun. We made sure to keep the couple dry as they met under a covered area near the venue. The love between them was evident from the moment their eyes met, and though the rain was coming down, their joy was shining through. I knew we were about to have a memorable day, rain or shine.
As the ceremony time approached, the rain miraculously stopped, and the wind calmed just enough for us to move ahead with the outdoor ceremony. The ceremony was intimate and full of emotion. Meghen and Taylor exchanged vows surrounded by close family and friends.
After the ceremony, we transitioned into the reception indoors at North Star Gatherings, which was beautifully set up for a cozy and intimate celebration. Guests mingled, enjoyed the delicious meal, and listened to heartfelt speeches that brought laughter and a few tears. Once dinner was over, the fun really began! The dance floor was packed with Meghen and Taylor’s closest family and friends. There was no shortage of laughter, dancing, and celebratory moments as everyone reveled in the couple’s happiness. Despite the rain and wind earlier in the day, the energy in the room was contagious, and you could feel the love and excitement for the newlyweds.
Meghen and Taylor’s wedding at North Star Gatherings was a testament to the resilience of love and the power of adapting to whatever the day throws at you. As a wedding planner, my job is to ensure that everything runs smoothly, but sometimes it’s the unexpected moments—the rain, the wind, and the little surprises—that make a wedding day even more memorable.
Wishing these two a lifetime of happiness and beautiful memories. And for any couple planning a wedding—don’t forget to embrace the unexpected; it often makes the day even more magical.
